In a heartfelt gesture of community support, Trotech, a company known for its innovation and compassion, recently donated 10 brand-new wheelchairs to Durban South Skills Development for People with Disabilities (DSSD), based in the Wentworth community.

The donation forms part of Trotech’s ongoing commitment to improving lives and promoting inclusion within local communities. The wheelchairs will help enhance mobility and independence for people living with disabilities, allowing them to participate more fully in education, training, and everyday life.

During the handover ceremony, Mr. Gavin Heron, representing Trotech, expressed deep admiration for the work done by DSSD ( Adelle Walker ). “It’s a true honour to stand here today as we hand over these wheelchairs to DSSD—an organization whose compassion, dedication, and tireless work uplift so many in the community,” he said. “Your commitment to caring for those who are often overlooked is deeply inspiring, and we are humbled to be able to contribute in a small but meaningful way.”

Mr. Heron added that at the heart of this donation lies the belief that mobility is more than just movement—it represents freedom, dignity, and opportunity. “These wheelchairs are not just equipment,” he explained, “but a chance for individuals to regain independence and participate more fully in life.”

The donation was graciously received by Mrs. Adele Walker, who accepted the wheelchairs on behalf of DSSD. She expressed her gratitude to Trotech for their generous contribution and their willingness to partner with the organization in supporting people with disabilities. “These wheelchairs will make a meaningful difference to the lives of those who need them most,” she said, thanking Trotech for their kindness and community spirit.

Mr. Heron also took a moment to acknowledge the Trotech team behind the initiative. “This contribution wouldn’t be possible without the incredible team behind me—our staff. Your generosity, hard work, and shared commitment to making a difference have made today possible,” he said. Closing his address, Mr. Heron shared a message that resonated deeply: “May this partnership be the beginning of many more opportunities to stand alongside you in service of others. As my son’s school motto says, ‘Carpe Diem’—Seize the Day. It’s a call to embrace opportunities and live purposefully, not waiting for things to happen, but acting and contributing meaningfully to our communities.”

Through this act of generosity, Trotech has once again shown that true success lies in making a positive difference—one act of kindness at a time.
