Recognised as one of the leading South African contractors operating in the large diameter Pipeline laying industry, M&D serves the water, mining and energy sectors with the provision of large diameter, steel, stainless steel, GRP and HDPE pipelines.

The company owns all its own pipelaying equipment and has pipelaying side-booms that are equipped to lay up to 3,5 metre diameter steel pipes.

In addition, M&D has its own fittings workshop, which allows the company to design and fabricate its own pipe fittings, junctions and spools, accredited to ISO 3834-2 (Welding standards). This facility allows the company to deliver pipe fittings to site as when they are required, without having to rely on the supply of such large and complex elements from other suppliers.

M&D’s history in Earthworks projects and the provision of Roads, equips the company to not only construct specialist roads and undertake large earthworks projects but to offer these services in conjunction with the other infrastructural capabilities that the company offers. M&D, together with its fully owned subsidiary, TROTECH, are the largest designers, fabricators and erectors of large steel tanks in South Africa. These tanks are generally for Fuel and Gas storage and are either provided singly or in tank farm arrays.

The company can provide a turnkey solution to clients’ tank requirements by designing, fabricating and erecting large diameter steel tank structures, all conforming to ISO 3834-2 (Welding standards) and passing the stringent tests required by the industry, using sophisticated testing and analysis equipment owned by the company.

M&D, together with its international subsidiary M&DCTS, specialises in the dewatering of mining pits and the lowering of water tables.

The company offers an affordable solution for dewatering, using a network of well points which are pumped through small diameter sleeves using a compressed air pumping system.

This allows for more affordable and rapid well drilling than does conventional systems, uses less energy for water extraction and does not rely on an unreliable electrical supply for power.

M&D Construction has placed its Construction Plant assets in a wholly owned subsidiary, M&D Plant. This allows the independent management of plant assets together with their purchase and their maintenance.

M&D Plant caters to the considerable Construction Plant requirements of the M&D Group. The company owns a fleet of over two hundred large items of Plant that provide the necessary resources to undertake large Earthmoving contracts, and contracts with a large Civil structural component requiring scaffold and concrete supply, hoisting equipment, specialist Pipe laying equipment, together with transport vehicles, containers, offices and small Plant utilised on all construction projects.

M&D Plant has its main yard and workshop in Kyasands, Johannesburg, where all major Plant items are returned from project duty for necessary maintenance before being dispatched to new projects.

In addition, the company has satellite workshops and mobile mechanic teams to service plant on the various sites.
