At Murray & Dickson Construction, we believe that building a better future extends to empowering communities, nurturing young minds, and protecting the environment that sustains us all.
As part of our Socio-Economic Development Programme, we are proud to partner with the Magaliesberg Biosphere and Drama for Change in an inspiring three-year Education for Sustainable Development project: “Nature Takes Care of Us” (Tlhago e re tlhokometse). This initiative, now active in the communities of Majakaneng, Bapong, and Modderspruit, uses drama and storytelling to help learners explore themes of sustainability, community, and culture. Through creative workshops, performances, and mentorship, local youth are discovering their voices as custodians of the environment.
In 2025, more than 5,000 learners across ten primary schools were introduced to environmental awareness through a lively pantomime, “Pinkie’s Perfect Plan”, teaching the importance of the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Later in the year, high school learners developed their own performances addressing real issues like pollution, deforestation, and conservation, culminating in the vibrant “Nature Takes Care of Us Drama Festival” on Heritage Day. Performances such as “Voice of the Earth” and “Knowledge is Power” showcased powerful messages of environmental stewardship and cultural pride, earning recognition for their creativity and impact.
Our Executive Chairman, Dr. Zoliswa Tshetshe, reflected on the event:
“The values expressed by these young performers mirror ours as M&D Construction. Today’s performance from the learners demonstrates a call to Be Safe; Do it Right; Find The Best Way; Do What You Say; and a recognition that our co-dependency with the environment embraces “Grow with Us”.”
The project continues to grow, with plans for 2026 to translate lessons from the stage into real-world action, transforming awareness into innovation, and performance into purpose.
