General
- Responsible for all SHERQ requirements of the fabrication facility and associated on site sub-contractors.
- Responsible for operational discipline of the fabrication facility.
- Responsible for profit & losses of the fabrication facility.
- To lead the Fabrication Division in delivering products of high quality in acceptable time frames and costing conforming to all applicable and relevant industry codes and procedures.
- To develop, maintain and implement Industry best practices.
- Internal Training of fabrication employees based on the required standards.
- Develop fabrication schedules for each project.
- Effective workshop administration in accordance with ISO 3834 part 2.
- Cost control of each project & cost reporting to Head Office monthly.
- Effective self – management.
- Effective people management and team leadership
Estimating
- Project tendering and or costing for all fabrication related project activities, inclusive of piping, structural, platework, painting and sandblasting requirements.
Scheduling / Drawings
- Generate workshop Drawings, submit for approval to client and or communicate design issues with client and resolve.
- Compile material requirements (Project Specific).
- Conduct shop take -offs from client issued ISO’s / drawings to determine material quantities.
Procurement
- Identify and procure project specific material and consumables from ISO standard and client accredited suppliers.
- Expediting of purchase orders.
Quality
- Maintain and work in accordance with ISO 9001 & other internal processes.
- Maintain and work in accordance with ISO 3834 internal processes.
- RWC – Appointment will be applicable
- Completing of method statements and quality control plans.
- All in-house inspections
- Assist sites with technical information & attending technical meetings
- Ensure fabricated pipe fittings / specials meet Client’s requirements & quality standards.
- Expediting of Method Statement (MS) and Quality Control Plan (QCP’s).
- Setting up WPS, WPQR’s, testing Welders and ensuring competency.
- Welding Controls and Fabrication Controls of Pipes and Fittings in accordance with the ISO 3834 requirements.
- Training of M & D personnel in Quality Assurance observance / supervision.
- Implementing Quality Assurance (QA) procedures in the Workshop, which include the daily, weekly and monthly reporting to Management.
- Implementing QA documentation and procedures.
- Arranging third party inspections as required and interpreting results and execution of remedial measures if necessary.
- Ensure all Factory Records are kept up to date and neat. (Data Packs)
- Data Control.
- Material receiving inspection and control.
Other
- Assist sites on a continual basis with special installations, shut-down’s and or procurement of special materials. Also, advise on design issues and the simplification thereof to ensure quick turnaround times and or cost saving methods.
- Identify design / material changes and communicate to site management with regards to cost and time implications thereof.
Qualifications
- SAIW QC level 2.
- A Mechanical degree or National diploma will be an added benefit.
- Project Management qualification will be an added benefit.
- Financial management qualifications will be an added benefit.
Experience
- 5 Years hand’s on experience of management of a Water / Petro-chemical / Refinery orientated pipe fabrication shop, inclusive of all NDE / QC requirements.
- Piping design experience will be an added benefit.
- Experience with working with CCS will be an added benefit.
- Estimating of pipe spools, pipe supports inclusive of all NDE requirements and material.
- Managing large, complex piping fabrication projects.
- Managing large consignment of piping material and associated fittings, inclusive of ensuring traceability of all material.
Note: Welding background and or qualification are required for the RWC appointed person as this is the listed / appointed person on the certification schedule. (ISO 3834)
