M&D Construction is acutely aware of the responsibility that it has in developing the potential of the broader South African community. This is done through a number of initiatives that provide for both infrastructural and human development.

Techno Girls Programme

M&D has been in partnership with Uweso Consulting, an innovative job-shadowing programme that seeks to increase the participation of girls and young women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) since 2015 and have seen great value in it for the students. Annually we are paired with a group of girls from Diepsloot High School, and every school holidays we host these students for a week at our Head office as well as on sites. The aim is to expose them to all our Company divisions by pairing them with mentors in order to obtain some in-depth exposure to various careers available within our environment. We also ensure that the girls are taught about the job market, cv writing, presenting skills and researching skills.

Our office employees as well as the different sites look forward to hosting these girls on a quarterly basis.

Other Initiatives

One of our projects in Tuschenkomst, North West, as part of giving back to the communities we work in, a number of activities were done based on the needs from the different villages in the area. M&D’s aim to uplift and better the lives of the community members was achieved. Regardless of the Company no longer on site due to project completion, M&D has hopefully left a footprint in the community.
